Children are taught to develop an understanding of basic spelling patterns and grammar, to assist in all areas of this subject.  The work is based upon the enjoyment of good quality children's literature, through which reading is also taught.

We give a high profile to reading, Children will read daily and also take home several reading books weekly, to read to,  or with parents at home.  A reading diary willl also go home for parents' comments.  Writing is taught in a developmetal way, with children writing for a range of purposes across the curriculum.
