Southwell itself is a rich resource for the study of geography and history. The site of Southwell Minster dates back to the Norman times, whilst there is evidence of occupation in Roman times. The Saracen's Head Hotel is where Charles I spent his last night of freedom and the National Trust's recently renovated Workhouse shows how impoverished people used to live in the Victorian times. The school itself was built over 150 years ago.

Geography, History, Design and Technology, Art and Personal, Social and Health Education are all taught within the requirements of the National Curriculum, and are not only taught as subjects in their own right but also frequently through cross curricular activities, For example, a recent display in the local bank showed pictures of local shops the children had painted which were put together to form a map of the town. |
